After a grueling year probing life’s deepest questions, like “does that comma need to be there?”; “Is that a restrictive or nonrestrictive clause?”; and “When do I get to see the sun again?,” I have graduated with a Certificate in Copyediting from UC San Diego!

Jokes aside, I had a blast—the program exceeded my expectations in every way and left me with a reverence for the fiercest little details of English composition. It was so intensive that by the end, I was literally dreaming about grammar problems and how I would query authors about them.

I want to give a special thank-you to instructor Cara Jordan, whose mentorship challenged me to become a far better editor in ten weeks than I had over the past three years of independent study.

I’m excited to move on to the next stage of my writing and editing journey with my toolbox brimming with new skills and expertise!
